DRC takes steps to integrate land governance concerns in Agriculture
Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, 2 March 2018 (ECA) - Senior officials from the Government, Ministry of Land Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture, and the national commission on land reform (CONAREF) along with the national alliance of traditional authorities have pledged to promote the integration of land governance in the national agricultural investment plan (PNIA).
Cote d’Ivoire takes steps to integrate land governance in its Agricultural Investment Programme
Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, 27 February 2018 (ECA) – The African Land Policy Centre (ALPC) in partnership with the Government of Côte d’Ivoire organized a workshop on 27 February 2018 to validate the country report and business plan on Mainstreaming Land Governance in the National Agricultural Investment Plan of the Comprehensive Africa Agricultural Development Programme (NAIP/CAADP).
Zambia National Land Policy Validation Workshop
The Ministry of Lands, Natural Resources and Environmental Planning (MLNREP) of Zambia in collaboration with the African Land Policy Centre (ALPC); formerly the Land Policy Initiative (LPI) and other partners is organizing a Validation Workshop for the National Draft Land Policy. The process aims at ensuring that the land policy addresses the Country’s peculiar needs and is representative of the interests of the various Stakeholders in the country.
National Stakeholder Validation Workshop on Mainstreaming Land in the National - Agriculture Investment Plan for Malawi
The Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development has been collaborating with the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Urban Development in the process of developing the National Agriculture Investment Plan (NAIP) for the period 2018-2022 a successor of the Agriculture Sector Wide Approach (ASWAp) 2011-2016. The collaboration has been aimed at ensuring systematic consideration and integration of key land issues critical to the national agricultural development in the country.
Validation Workshop
The ALPC has commissioned a study on mainstreaming land policy and governance issues in CAADP processes and national agricultural investment plans. The main objective of the study was to review and analyze relevant programs, documents, frameworks, investment programs and initiatives in order to identify gaps in land issues, implications and entry points and provide guidelines for mainstreaming land policy and governance to ensure that land related issues and challenges are adequately addressed in programs of NPCA/CAADP and member countries.
Validation Workshop of Entry Points Onland Question in The National Agricultural Investment Program (NAIP) and Its Budget
The ALPC continues its activities in a second phase, with the aim of supporting member states in the implementation of their land-related mandates, in line with the AU Declaration on Lands and the frameworks and guidelines (F & G) to ensure that land effectively plays its role in promoting socio-economic development, peace, security and environmental sustainability in Africa.
East African Ministers endorse cooperation to advance the AU Land Agenda
Arusha, Tanzania, 9 February 2018 (ECA) - Ministers in charge of environment and natural resources management in East Africa have endorsed a cooperation partnership between the East African Community (EAC) Secretariat and ECA’s African Land Policy Centre to develop capacity of EAC in implementing the AU Declaration on Land.
