Pilot Project for the Integration of Governance and Land Policy in CAADP for Food Security

The ALPC continues its activities in a second phase, with the aim of supporting member states in the implementation of their land-related mandates, in line with the AU Declaration on Lands and the frameworks and guidelines (F & G) to ensure that land effectively plays its role in promoting socio-economic development, peace, security and environmental sustainability in Africa. In this framework, in the basis of a partnership between the ALPC and IFAD, in which a two-year project was agreed to integrate governance and land issues into CAADP programs and the National Agricultural Investment Program NAIP at the national level of six countries selected on the basis of progress in the agriculture and land sectors. These are: Côte d'Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Madagascar, Malawi, Rwanda and Tanzania.

As regards to Côte d'Ivoire, the start of this project took place on July 11, 2017 during a workshop held at the TIAMA Hotel. The recommendations from this launching workshop were discussed with rural stakeholders to provide a consolidated version. It is now a question of organizing a workshop to validate land rights securing activities to be included in Côte d'Ivoire's national agricultural investment program.

The overall objective of this workshop is to validate the budget and entry points for land issues into Côte d'Ivoire's second-generation National Agricultural Investment Program.

It is more specifically about:

- presenting land governance improvement and land policy implementation activities to be considered in the second generation NAIP to facilitate increased agricultural production and reduce poverty and hunger;

- Presenting the draft budget for integration of land issues in the NAIP of Côte d’Ivoire;

- listing the main actors whose capacity building facilitates the integration of governance and land policy into the second generation NAIP;

- defining the stages, the chronogram and the methodology for implementing the rural land policy and the actions defined with a view to improving land governance in Côte d'Ivoire
