6th Consultative Meeting of the Sub-Regional Coordination Mechanism (SRCM-North Africa)

A branch of the African Regional Coordination Mechanism (RCM) coordinated by the ECA in collaboration with the Arab Maghreb Union (UMA), the Sub Regional Coordination Mechanism (SRCM) for North Africa aims to facilitate concertation between UN agencies in North Africa. The SRCM-North Africa annual meeting provides a consultation framework for the programming and coordination of UN and development partner support to the Arab Maghreb Union (UMA).

Cairo hosts APRM for North Africa on 10-11 December

Structural transformation key for rise of North African economies

Statistics: ECA initiates research in preparation for Sudan Country Profile

Khartoum, 13 November 2017 (ECA) – A delegation of experts from the UN Economic Commission for Africa (Office for North Africa) initiated on 11 November a one week working visit to Sudan, to prepare the second edition of the Sudan Country profile.

From 11 to 15 November, the ECA delegation will meet Sudanese experts from the Ministries of Finance and National Economy, the Ministry of Planning, the Central Bank and the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics. Together, they will examine economic and social data and public policies y developed in the country.

ECA capacity building effort in Mauritania focuses on livestock and SDG related statistics

Nouakchott, 20 October (ECA) – The Economic Commission for Africa completed today a five-day mission in Nouakchott, to provide capacity-building support to Mauritanian statisticians in order to better calculate statistics related to livestock. The delegation has taken stock of the progress made towards the migration of Mauritania’s System of National Accounts (SNA) towards a new base year (SNA 2008), and the realisation of the Sustainable Development Goals.

In Morocco, Vera Songwe meets with officials to advance collaboration
