A branch of the African Regional Coordination Mechanism (RCM) coordinated by the ECA in collaboration with the Arab Maghreb Union (UMA), the Sub Regional Coordination Mechanism (SRCM) for North Africa aims to facilitate concertation between UN agencies in North Africa. The SRCM-North Africa annual meeting provides a consultation framework for the programming and coordination of UN and development partner support to the Arab Maghreb Union (UMA).

Held in March 2018, the 5th SRCM-North Africa meeting resulted in the adoption of a 2018-2019 regional road map to support SDG implementation in North Africa. The 6th meeting will assess the execution of the road map and the challenges met in the process, and will agree on (i) the adjustments required with respect to the strategic priorities of the African Union and the AU-UN Framework for the implementation of both Agendas 2030 and 2063 (ii) arrangements needed for a more effective implementation and monitoring, and (iii) ways of using available resources to carry out actions related to the roadmap.
