ECA Country Profile advises Guinea to diversify its economy

Conakry, 6 June 2016 (ECA / SRO-WA) - The Prime Minister of Guinea Mr. Mamady Youla and the Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), Mr. Carlos Lopes, launched the recent ECA Country Profile for  the Republic of Guinea.

The Country Profile 2015 Guinea, is a report produced by the ECA for the benefit of the countries in that it provides a detailed analysis of its economic and social situation.

Senegal to launch three key ECA publications in Dakar

Dakar, 13 June 2016 (ECA/SRO-WA). A high-level meeting to launch three of the Economic Commission for Africa’s key publications will be held at the African Institute for Economic Development and Planning (IDEP) next week.

The publications are Senegal’s Country Profile, the Economic Report on Africa 2016 titled "Towards Green Industrialization in Africa" and the 2016 African Governance Report entitled "Measuring Corruption in Africa: the International Dimension Matters".

ECA's tremendous contribution in assessing progress made in ECOWAS

Niamey, 25 May 2016 (ECA) - The Economic Commission for Africa carried out a study on behalf of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) entitled "ECOWAS at 40: An Assessment of the Progress Made towards Regional Integration in West Africa".

The study presents progress made by the ECOWAS towards the integration of the region since its inception in 1975, the challenges faced by the Institution as well as the ways and means of overcoming the later so as to meet the objectives set by its founding fathers.

ECOWAS at 40 - An assessment of progress towards regional integration in West Africa

This study sought to assess the progress made by ECOWAS toward regional integration. The analysis of the institutional organisation and sectoral policies of ECOWAS has shown that this Community, in general, is a model of advanced integration in the broader context of the African Union, in the same manner as SADC in southern Africa.

Civil Registration: Hery Rajaonarimampianina, Malagasy President commends ECA leadership

Antananarivo, 10 March 2016 (ECA). Under the leadership of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), a delegation from the Regional Group of Support for the Africa Programme on Accelerated Improvement of Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (APAI-CRVS) led by Mr. Dimitri Sanga, Regional Group Coordinator of the said programme for French speaking countries and Director of the Sub-regional Office for West Africa of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa visited Antananarivo, Madagascar.
