Africa Day Side Event during the High-Level Political Forum on sustainable development

High Level Workshop on Sustainable Development Goals

The capital of Senegal, Dakar hosts on June 27, a high-level workshop on the financing of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Senegal. Diverse actors and development experts will discuss key issues for implementing the SDGs; To this end, they will analyze the bottlenecks that hinder the success of these objectives. To this end, they will assess financing issues and obstacles to achieving the SDGs in Senegal.

Inaugural WBG-ARC-ECA Index and Disaster Risk Insurance Technical Training Program (IDEP)

With climate change contributing to an increase in disaster risk, disaster risk management becomes a vital and urgent component of any climate change adaptation program. As part of climate change adaptation policies and investments, this training seeks to arm the participants with the index tools for reducing the vulnerability of their target stakeholders. It will also help in smarter planning for measures to mitigate natural disaster risks.

Gender, Trade And Development

Gender equality is a development goal on its own but is also key to accelerating socio-economic development and improving the prospects of poor households, communities and nations. Despite gender equality being central to the commitments contained in Africa’s Agenda 2063 and the global Agenda 2030, it is still an unfulfilled objective in Africa. According to the 2016 UNDP Human Development Report for Africa, on average, African women achieve only 87 percent of men’s human development.
