Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), Zeynabou Kane, Assistant Training Officer at the Training and Research Division of IDEP and focal point of the course on “Migration Policy”, is representing IDEP at the Technical Workshop to Review the African Union Training Curriculum on Migration.
The African Union Commission’s Department of Social Affairs in partnership with GIZ (German Corporation for International Cooperation) working on a new training curriculum on Migration Governance to assist member states and Regional Economic Communities (RECs) manage migration related issues, after a capacity building needs assessment was conducted.
The workshop has brought together 30 participants from Universities, Training Institutions and NGOs working on Migration related issues, in order to review the new AU Training curriculum on Migration Governance
The workshop have the following specific objectives:
i) Sensitize training experts on the Migration Policy Framework for Africa (MPFA) and the rationale for prioritizing capacity building on migration governance in Africa;
ii) Review and provide recommendations on the first draft of the training curriculum on migration governance;
It is expected that the technical workshop will achieve the following results:
i) Increased awareness by African training experts on the MPFA as a guide for national and regional management of migration;
ii) A set of recommendations on the first draft of the AU Training Curriculum on Migration Governance;
Based on the training experts’ recommendations, the consultants would finalize the AU Training Curriculum on Migration Governance;
