Thirty-Third Meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee of Experts

The overarching objective of the thirty-third session of ICE is to review regulatory issues pertaining to the mandate and functioning of the SRO-CA, enable experts to discuss economic and social development issues in Central Africa and, particularly, the development of an industrial fabric in Central Africa as well as propose strategies for accelerating structural transformation of the economies of the sub-region.

High Level Policy Dialogue on Structural Transformation in Central Africa - Congo

The exchange part of the dissemination and deepening of the ideas contained in the Country Profile of the Congo on "The development of transport infrastructures to meet the challenge of the structural transformation of the Congo", published by ECA in March 2016.

The main objective of the meeting is to examine the progress so far made in transport infrastructure in the Congo and to discuss what contribution it holds for the structural transformation of the country.

Ad hoc expert group meeting on the African mining vision

The main objective of the meeting is to consider and enrich the report of the study on “the status and prospects of the implementation of the African mining vision in Central Africa” prepared by the ECA. Thanks to preliminary work by the ECA, the African Development Bank (AfDB) and their partners, the said Vision was adopted in February 2009 by African Union Heads of State and Government. It is predicated on the premise that foreign direct investments in the mining industry do not really benefit African countries and their citizenry.

High Level Policy Dialogue on Structural Transformation in Central Africa - Gabon

Hinged on on-going macroeconomic policy work by the Commission, the objective of Libreville debate is to debate on priority actions to be made to valorise tropical timber to leverage structural transformation in Gabon. Specifically, it will identify suitable measures to support the production and export of high value-added wood products, by strengthening the wood processing industry, but also by improving the country’s presence on export markets for wood products.

Seventh session of the Sub-regional Coordination Mechanism (SRCM) of the UN System-wide support to the AU’s NEPAD programme in Central Africa

Convened by the UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the meeting will inform SRCM partners on the appropriate monitoring and evaluation facilities and mechanisms for the implementation of the AU’s Agenda 2063 and the UN’s Agenda 2030. Specifically, it will examine the extent to which the United Nations could support sub-regional institutions not only in plotting coherence between the two agendas but also in their effective implementation.
