Harare urged to deploy strategies to ensure private sector plays active role in AfCFTA implementation
Harare, Zimbabwe, October 01, 2019 (ECA) – To benefit from the African Continental Free Trade Area, Zimbabwe must deploy deliberate strategies towards ensuring the private sector, a key stakeholder in production and trade, is strategically positioned to exploit larger market opportunities offered by the AfCFTA, with reduced tariff and non-tariff barriers, says Batanai Chikwene, an Economic Affairs Officer at the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA).

Zimbabwe’s private sector ready to play active role in AfCFTA implementation
Harare, Zimbabwe, October 1, 2019 (ECA) – Zimbabwe’s private sector says it is ready and fully seized with matters to do with the historic African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) that is set to create one of the world's largest single markets, accounting for over $4 trillion in spending and investment across the continent.
All set for workshop to validate Zimbabwe’s AfCFTA Implementation Strategy
Harare, Zimbabwe, 30 September 2019 (ECA) – All is set for an Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), African Union Commission and Zimbabwe government workshop to validate Harare’s strategy on the implementation of the historic African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The workshop, which runs from 2-3 October under the theme Expanding Industrial and Trade Growth through the AfCFTA, will be preceded by a day-long meeting to sensitise the country’s private sector on the AfCFTA.
