Towards an African-driven mineral governance framework
(Addis Ababa, Ethiopia) - A three-day Technical Workshop on the Africa Mining Vision (AMV) is currently underway in Addis Ababa from 29 February to 2 March 2016. Hosted by the African Union Commission (AUC) and the African Minerals Development Centre (AMDC), the purpose of the workshop is to critically review, share and develop a technical methodology, workshop tools, and proposed themes for the planned continental Roundtable on the African Extractive Industry Governance Framework (AEIGF) to be held in Addis Ababa on 21 and 22 March 2016.
Mining association endorses the AMV Compact
(Cape Town, South Africa) – Prior to the commencement of the official ‘Investing in African Mining’ Indaba, held in Cape Town in February 2016, the Mining Industry Association of Southern Africa (MIASA) at its meeting on 6 February 2016, expressed support for the African Mining Vision Compact with the private sector.

'Supporting Resilient Communities’ through the Africa Mining Vision
Cape Town, South Africa, 11 February 2016 (ECA) – On the final day of the annual ‘Invest in African Mining’ Indaba held in Cape Town, African Minerals Development Centre (AMDC) participated in Sustainable Development Day. AMDC Coordinator Kojo Busia featured alongside other notable panelists during the session titled, ‘Supporting Resilient Communities’. The session was moderated by Sheila Khama, Director of the African Natural Resources Centre (AfDB) and the keynote address was delivered by His Majesty Kgosi Leruo Molotlegi, King of Bafokent, The Royal Bafokeng Nation.
Africa Mining Vision - a compact between business and governments
Cape Town, South Africa, 5 February 2016 (ECA) – At Cape Town’s annual Mining Indaba, the launch of an Africa Mining Vision (AMV) Compact between African governments and mining companies has been announced.
Frank Dixon Mugyenyi, Senior Trade Advisor of the Department of Trade and Industry in the Africa Union Commission (AUC) delivered the keynote speech on behalf of H.E. Mrs Fatima Acyl at a specially hosted dinner hosted on Tuesday evening.
