AMV unveils ambitious detailed business plan

Maputo, December 14, 2013: The African Mining Vision (AMV) has unveiled a five-year comprehensive business plan developed to facilitate the establishment of the Africa Mining Development Centre (AMDC), which will provide strategic operational support for the Vision and its Action Plan.

The business plan outlines a road map with seven result areas and their expected outcomes including policy and licensing, geological and mining information systems, artisanal and small-scale mining as well as linkages, investment and diversification.

Launch of the African Minerals Development Centre a new dawn for Africa

Maputo 16 December, 2013 - The African Minerals Development Centre (AMDC) is now open for business. The AMDC was launched in Maputo Mozambique by Hon Minister of Mines for the Republic of Mozambique, Ms Esperanza Biaz at an event held during the third Ordinary Session of the African Union, Conference of African Ministers Responsible for Mineral Resources Development.

African Minerals Development Centre signs collaboration agreement with Australian Institution

Addis Ababa, 04 November 2014 (ECA) - The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) on Tuesday held a ceremony to mark the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Australian Institution of Mining for Development Centre (IM4DC) and the African Minerals Development Centre (AMDC). Mark Sawers, Australian Ambassador to Ethiopia was a guest of honor to the ceremony.

Minerals Centre produces guidebook for domestication of African Mining Vision

Addis Ababa, 24 September 2014 (ECA)- The African Minerals Development Center has produced a guidebook entitled, “Country Mining Vision guidebook: domesticating the Africa Mining Vision”. The guide is expected to assist member States to domesticate the Africa Mining Vision (AMV) at the national level through a multi-stakeholder consultative process that will lead to broad-based development and structural transformation.

Mining stakeholders in South Africa call for more value-addition and regional integration in Africa

Johannesburg, 22 August 2013 (ECA) – Stakeholders in South Africa’s mineral and manufacturing sectors agreed during a meeting on the interface between mining and manufacturing that “South Africa has the resource wealth, and comparative advantages to rise as a significant manufacturer.” The objective of the meeting was to debate the potential of the country to enhance its mining activities and fuel greater manufacturing.
