Johannesburg, South Africa, Wednesday 13 April 2016 (ECA): A two-day Expert Group Meeting convened in Johannesburg, South Africa, to examine a major study commissioned by the Capacity Development Division (CDD) of the Economic Commission of Africa (ECA) in collaboration with the African Minerals Development Centre (AMDC) successfully concluded this afternoon.
The 6th Zambian International Mining & Energy Conference
The AMDC and the African Union Commission will participate in the 6th Zambian International Mining & Energy Conference and Exhibition. H.E. Fatima Haram Acyl, AUC Commissioner for Trade and Industry, will provide a keynote address opening the event and the AUC/AMDC will host an AMV workshop.
Country Mining Vision Communications Workshop
This GIZ-funded AMDC communications workshop will provide practical guidance to supporters of the CMV process at both the regional and in-country levels, as well as examples of communication materials that can be used at both levels during the execution of the CMV communication strategy.
Geology and Mineral Information System (GMIS) Coordination meeting
This GMIS coordination meeting is geared towards the implementation of the GMIS Strategy functional structure. More specifically this event hopes to accomplish the following:
- Organization of the GMIS Steering Committee;
- identification of the GIRAF, OAGS, GSOs, GSAf and universities roles and contributions to the implementation of the GMIS Strategy; and
- identification of priority issues for the implementation of the GMIS Strategy.
Africa Mining Vision Private Sector Compact meeting for West and North Africa
This regional consultative meeting for West and North Africa will serve as an opportunity to strengthen the case for an AMV compact with the private sector at the national and regional levels in preparation for the Continental Symposium.
Training on gender-responsive mining policies for Africa Mining Vision-implementing countries
The AMDC will provide training on gender-responsive mining policies and regulatory frameworks for French-speaking countries implementing the Africa Mining Vision (AMV). At least 25 high-level government officials from the ministries of mining, gender and planing will participate in the training workshop.
