Africa Mining Vision workshop on capacity building and transparent contract negotiation comes to Malawi

Communications workshop on the Africa Mining Vision in Malawi connects with media and civil society

Eastern African States adapt mining policies to the AMV

Kigali, Rwanda, 10 May 2016 (ECA) – The Government of Rwanda and the African Minerals Development Centre (AMDC) recently concluded a three-day expert group meeting to review a study titled, “Assessment of the Mining Policies and Regulatory Frameworks in the East African Community.” The purpose of this study is to ensure the alignment of mineral and mining policies in Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda with the Africa Mining Vision (AMV).

Experts review draft report on Mineral Beneficiation for Africa’s mineral resources

Geology and Mineral Information System (GMIS) Coordination meeting

This GMIS coordination meeting is geared towards the implementation of the GMIS Strategy functional structure. More specifically this event hopes to accomplish the following: 

- Organization of the GMIS Steering Committee;

- identification of the GIRAF, OAGS, GSOs, GSAf and universities roles and contributions to the implementation of the GMIS Strategy; and

- identification of priority issues for the implementation of the GMIS Strategy.

Training on gender-responsive mining policies for Africa Mining Vision-implementing countries

The AMDC will provide training on gender-responsive mining policies and regulatory frameworks for French-speaking countries implementing the Africa Mining Vision (AMV). At least 25 high-level government officials from the ministries of mining, gender and planing will participate in the training workshop.
