The Sahel 2043 Prospective Study, the focus of a policy dialogue organized by the ECA with the Government of Burkina Faso

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, Monday, July 1st, 2019 - The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), through its Sub-Regional Office for West Africa, held a policy dialogue with the Government of Burkina Faso on the Sahel 2043 Prospective Study.

The meeting was chaired by the Director of Cabinet of the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Development of Burkina Faso, Mr. Fayama Karfa, representing his Minister, current Chair of the Council of Ministers of the G5 Sahel. Also present was the acting Director of the ECA Sub-Regional Office for West Africa, Mr. Bakary Dosso.

Inaugural WBG-ARC-ECA Index and Disaster Risk Insurance Technical Training Program (IDEP)

With climate change contributing to an increase in disaster risk, disaster risk management becomes a vital and urgent component of any climate change adaptation program. As part of climate change adaptation policies and investments, this training seeks to arm the participants with the index tools for reducing the vulnerability of their target stakeholders. It will also help in smarter planning for measures to mitigate natural disaster risks.

IDEP gives tailor-made training to build capacity of Gambia’s development planners

After a successful tailor-made Training of Trainers in “Results Based Management” last year to the support the implementation of its new National Development Plan (2018-2021), the Gambia through the Directorate of Development Planning, Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs has again requested this year to the African Institute for Economic Development and Planning (IDEP), for a new tailor-made course in “Project Management”.
