CCDA III opens in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, 21 October 2013 (ECA) - The Third Annual Conference on Climate Change and Development in Africa (CCDA-III) opened here this morning under the theme " Africa on the rise: Can the opportunities from climate change spring the continent to transformative development?”

Organized under the auspices of the Climate for Development in Africa (ClimDev-Africa) Programme , it brings together more than 500 participants drawn from among policymakers, academia, scientists,  researchers, civil society groups, the media and farmers.

African negotiators strive for favourable results for Africa at climate conference

Lima, Peru, 05 December 2014 (ECA) – During a press conference on Tuesday the 2nd December in the Peruvian capital, the African Group of Negotiators on climate change committed to making every effort to ensure that the 20th Conference of Parties to the UNFCCC (COP20) produces conclusions that are highly favourable to Africa.

Seeking local technological solutions to climate challenges

Marrakesh, 10 October, 2014 (ECA) – As the climate discourse evolves, different ways are being sought and developed on how to tackle the phenomenon, which cuts across all developmental sectors.

Among the theories emerging is the technology transfer and innovation model, which largely refers to new ways of doing the same thing differently to achieve different results.

But how should it be done and whose responsibility should it be? This is one of the themes being discussed at the on-going climate change conference in Marrakech, Morocco.
