Niamey, February 13, 2015 (ECA) On March 16-17, 2015 the King Fahd Hotel in Dakar (Senegal) will host the Ad Hoc Experts Group  Meeting coming from 15 Member states of West Africa, the Regional Economic Communities, the ECOWAS, the WAEMU, the MRU, Inter-Governmental Organizations and representatives of the private sector and of civil society, around the theme, “ infrastructural integration and theirs impacts on the Free-Trade Zone in West Africa.

Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) economies remain vulnerable and the sustainability of relatively strong growth rates is uncertain given the intensifying fiscal woes in the United States of America, Europe and Japan. During the 2007 and 2008 economic crises, the SSA countries were able to use their heightened economy activity led by booming primary sector (minerals and oil), and improved political and economic governance to consolidate their fiscal positions by reducing deficits and debts to sustainable levels.

Regional Integration : Agricultural Value Chains to Integrate and Transform Agriculture in West Africa

The main objective of the study is to explore solutions for accelerating the achievement of the objectives of NEPAD, CAADP and ECOWAP, in order to generate high growth based on agriculture for a more rapid emergence of the African continent in general and of West Africa in particular. The analysis is justified by the fact that in spite of West Africa’s enormous potential in agricultural resources, the take-off for the agricultural sector remains with little support.
