Rabat, 5 December, 2019 - The Economic Commission for Africa, the WTO Chair of the Mohamed V University of Rabat and their partners launched on Thursday 5 December the 13th International Colloquium of Rabat under the theme: "The Continental Free Trade Area and Regional Integration in Africa as Drivers for Sustainable Growth and Job Creation".

From 5 to 6 December, the colloquium will enable academics to examine the opportunities offered by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), its implementation process and various regional integration cases.

Lack of trade facilitation and high transaction costs among main causes of weak economic integration in North Africa (Hachem Naas)

Aswan (Egypt), 28 November 2019 (ECA) - Participants at the ECA Office for North Africa expert group meeting on “Trade Facilitation in North Africa for Enhanced Regional Economic Integration: Challenges, Opportunities and the Way Forward”  presented a set of recommendations for North African countries to be able to strengthen their regional integration, improve  their  competitiveness on global markets, and make the most of the newly established African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA).

North Africa agrees on need to step up regional integration and accelerate sustainable development

Aswan (Egypt), 28 November 2019 (CEA) – At the conclusion of the 34th Inter-Governmental Committee of Senior Officials and Experts for North Africa (ICSOE), participants called the implementation of trade facilitation measures to be accelerated in North Africa in order to maximize the benefits and fulfill the AfCFTA potential, especially in the areas of investment and employment.

ECA, ITFC partner to increase trade between Arab and African countries to generate growth and employment

Addis Ababa, 21 November (ECA) – The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) signed today an agreement to step up their cooperation in support to economic and social development as well as trade among their member countries.
