Eritrea’s Saleh urges Africa to tap into her potential and capabilities to spur regional integration

Asmara, Eritrea, November 6, 2019 (ECA) – Africa has remarkable potential and capabilities to leverage on and expedite for regional integration, says Eritrea’s Foreign Minister, Mr. Osman Saleh.

In opening remarks to the 23rd Meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee of Senior Officials and Experts (ICSOE) for Eastern Africa Tuesday, Mr. Saleh said the Eastern Africa region had the same capabilities.

Asmara, Eritrea, 5 November 2019 (ECA) - East Africa remains the fastest growing region in Africa, but despite this impressive performance, the pace of economic transformation is too slow to ensure the region can achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

The regional economic and social overview was presented by Andrew Mold, head of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) in East Africa, at regional office’s annual meeting taking place in Asmara this week and attended by more than 200 economic experts and decision makers.

Effective AfCFTA implementation can create 2 million jobs for East Africa, says Songwe

Enlarging group of AfCFTA State parties crucial ahead of operationalisation

East African countries gather in Asmara to discuss regional integration

Intra-regional trade could be instrumental to address climate change impacts

Kigali, 24 October 2019 (ECA) -The Global Climate Change Alliance Plus Initiative (GCCA+) argues that climate change impacts threaten to undermine hard-won development gains in Africa.

According to Jane Wilkinson, Strategic Mitigation Advisor at GCCA+, “Africa’s geographic position and high climate vulnerability compounded by low adaptive capacity in most African countries, threatens agricultural production and food security across the continent”.
