Representing national statistical offices, central banks, regional economic communities and other stakeholders, the experts commended ECA’s Country Profile initiative, and called for deeper analysis on social statistics.

ECA’s Sub-regional Office for Southern Africa and the African Peacebuilding Network (APN) of the Social Science Research Council (SSRC), New York, in collaboration with the SADC Secretariat, are facilitating a regional forum linked to a research project on the theme “Developmental Regionalism, Peace and Economic Transformation in Southern Africa”.
The consultative meeting seeks to review draft country and regional profiles for 2016, and discuss the data collection processes that feed into the production of these profiles and into the ECA Databank.

The 36th SADC Heads of States and Government Summit will take place in Mbabane, Swaziland from 30 -31 August 2016 under the chairmanship of the incoming chairperson of SADC, His Majesty King Mswati III of Swaziland. The approved general theme of the summit is "Resource Mobilization for Investment in Sustainable Energy Infrastructure for an Inclusive SADC Industrialization for the Prosperity".

The inaugural meeting of the Consortium to Stem Illicit Financial Flows (IFFs) from Africa will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 13 to 14 June 2016. The meeting is convened by the Secretariat of the High Level Panel on IFFs and will be chaired by Mr. Thabo Mbeki, Former President of the Republic of South Africa and Chair of the AU/ECA High Level Panel.
