Leaders commend ECA climate change work at COP 21 Africa Pavilion
Paris, 1 December 2015 (ECA) – The President of Benin, Mr. Boni Yayi, today praised the intellectual leadership role that Mr. Carlos Lopes and his team at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) played in bringing content into the Africa Pavilion that was inaugurated this morning at the ongoing climate conference (COP 21) in Paris France.

Paris, 2 December 2015 (ClimDev-Africa) - "Africa has played a key role in global climate negotiations. The African group of negotiators has been working hard since 2006, but it must find ways to strengthen its capacity as a block.”
The statement was made by the Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), Carlos Lopes at the Africa Pavilion in a session focused on the conclusions of a study of Africa's road to the Climate negotiations.
Africa Pavilion Inaugurated to amplify COP21

Africa must prioritize local adaptation
Paris, 2 December 2015 (ClimDev-Africa) - An appeal has been launched at COP 21, during a session on financing of adaptation to climate change in Africa organized by the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD).
"The conclusion is clear. There is a real need for funding of local communities, as they account for between 60 and 70% of the African population," said an expert, speaking to more than a hundred participants in the session. According to him, investing in today's climate goes beyond mere speculation.
