Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, October 14, 2020 (ECA) – The seventh meeting of the Statistical Commission for Africa (StatCom7) continued Wednesday with participants emphasizing that big data must be embraced by national statistical offices’ work plans, along with new data collecting and processing technology.
This would be key to the continent’s efforts to effectively measure, evaluate and formulate the right public policies.

Addis Ababa, October 13, 2020 (ECA) – The seventh meeting of the Statistical Commission for Africa (StatCom7) opened virtually on Tuesday with a clarion call from Ethiopia’s President Sahle-Work Zewde for Africa to urgently transform and modernize its national statistical systems, especially in light of the continuing novel coronavirus pandemic.

Addis Ababa, 09 October 2020 (ECA) - On October 13, 2020, H.E. Sahle-Work Zewde, President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, and Vera Songwe, Under Secretary General and Executive Secretary of ECA will proceed with the official opening of the 7th ECA Statistics Committee, implemented as Statistical Commission for Africa (StatCom-Africa).
