17th Session of the Regional Coordination Mechanism for Africa

The Seventeenth Session of Regional Coordination Mechanism for Africa (RCM-Africa) will take place on 2 -3 April 2016 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in the UNCC on the margins of the Conference of Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.  The theme for this year’s session is “United Nations Support to the AU for the Implementation of Agenda 2063 and Sustainable Development Goals”

RCM-Africa Coordinators’ Retreat

The Capacity Development Division (CDD) of ECA which is hosting the RCM-Africa Secretariat, in collaboration with the AUC, is organizing an RCM Coordinators’ Retreat as a preparatory forum for the 17th Session of RCM-Africa. The Retreat is a working forum which aims to contribute meaningfully to the continuous improvement of United Nations System support to the AU organizations and programmes through building synergies, capitalizing on the comparative advantages of all partners, improving communication and information sharing for a more effective mechanism.

Ad hoc Expert Group Meeting (AEGM) on Enhancing Monitoring and Evaluation in the Regional Coordination Mechanism for Africa

The Ad hoc Expert Group Meeting on Enhancing Monitoring and Evaluation in the Regional Coordination Mechanism for Africa will take place at La Residence Hotel and Spa, located in Adama/Nazareth, Ethiopia, on 28 to 29 September 2015. This is the first of a series of events being held back to back with a broad aim of strengthening the UN coordination mechanism at the continental and sub-regional levels, so as to support the African Union and African regional economic communities with the implementation of the Agenda 2063.

Training Workshop on Monitoring and Evaluation in the RCM-Africa

The workshop will take place at La Residence Hotel and Spa, located in Adama/Nazareth, Ethiopia. It is being conducted with a broad aim of strengthening the UN coordination mechanism at the continental and sub-regional levels, so as to support the African Union and African regional economic communities with the implementation of the Agenda 2063.

Workshop on Strengthening the Sub-regional Coordination

The ECA will hold a workshop on Strengthening Subregional Coordination in Support of the African Union and NEPAD on 30 September - 1 October 2015, in Adama/Nazareth, Ethiopia.  This will be part of a series of workshops with the aim of building coordination capacity for the implementation of Africa’s transformation agenda.  The purpose of this particular workshop is to develop a framework for strengthening coordination capacity at the subregional levels and enhancing coordination among partners, including the AUC, the NEPAD Agency, the RECs, IGOs, UN organizations and agencies in support of

Subregional Coordination Mechanism for North Africa

The subregional office for North Africa and the Arab Maghreb Union organized two consultative meetings on the establishment of a subregional coordination mechanism as part of Maghreb partnership process. The first meeting, held in June 2013, in Rabat, focused on integration in the Maghreb region in the light of the new sociopolitical context of the subregion. The objective of the meeting was to discuss the medium-term challenges of regional integration and develop an action plan and platform for the implementation of decisions.
