Technical National Workshop on “Harmonizing the Zambian APRM National Plan of Action (NPoA) with the existing development strategies and Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF)”

The Capacity Development Division of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Regional Centre for Eastern and Southern Africa jointly organized a workshop entitled “Harmonizing Zambia’s African Peer Review Mechanism national plan of action with existing development strategies and the medium-term expenditure framework”, which was held in Lusaka on 28 and 29 October 2014.

As elections become more regular in Africa, so has intolerance of diversity

Lusaka, Zambia 6 November 2014 - Elections have become more regular in Africa, but no less problematic, often exacerbating the challenge of diversity. This is according to findings of the third edition of the African Governance Report (AGRIII), a joint report of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and UNDP which promotes electoral inclusiveness, social cohesion and diversity in African countries.

Experts Convene on Gender and the African Peer Review Mechanism

Addis Ababa, 18 September 2014 – An Expert Group Meeting (EGM) which places focus on the gender dimensions of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) concluded today with an agreed consensus that there is a greater need now more than ever to increase the focus on gender related cross-cutting issues within the African Union (AU) and New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) agendas. At the meeting, representatives from regions of Africa and NEPAD discussed the issues facing the implementation of gender initiatives at the national and regional levels.

Capturing the 21St Century: African Peer Review (APRM) Best Practices and Lessons Learned

Addis Ababa, 20 May 2013 (ECA) - A newly published study by the UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) seeks to respond to key questions about the relevance of the Africa Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), on the margins of the ongoing celebrations to commemorate 50 years of the Organization for African Unity (OAU), which is now the African Union. The book’s launch this week also coincides with the screening of a video documentary “The APRM: Working for the African People”.
