Katowice, Poland, 3 December 2018 – The opening day of COP24 Leader’s Summit was marked by the celebration of Africa Day held under the theme "The Africa Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) Hub: Going further and faster with NDC implementation in support of Agenda 2063".

Africa Day is a joint initiative of the African Development Bank (AfDB), the African Union Commission (AUC), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UN-ECA) and the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD).

Background

The African Climate Policy Center (ACPC) in collaboration with Addis Ababa University convened the second round of the African Climate Talks (ACT!) at the Intercontinental Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on the 22-23rd March 2018. The event attended by more than 170 participants as a follow-up to the inaugural ACT event which took place in September 2015 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Weather Forecasting Experts converge for a write-shop to draft an African Regional Climate Outlook Forum best practices document

Windhoek, Namibia, 24 November, 2018 – More than 20 weather experts from across Africa met in Windhoek, Namibia from the 22-23 November to identify best practices in the African Regional Climate Outlook Forum (RCOFs) processes. The write-shop event was convened under the auspices of the African Climate Policy Centre (ACPC) and the Weather and Climate Information Services for Africa (WISER) programme.
