ECA Sub-regional Office for Southern Africa will organise a workshop for ‘Statistics Users and Producers inSouthern Africa in collaboration with the SADC Secretariat’s Statistics Division from 27 to 28 November 2014 in Gaborone, Botswana.  Senior officials from SADC member States, national statistics organisations (NSOs), Central Banks, Finance and Economic Planning Ministries are expected to attend the workshop. 
The overall objective of the workshop is to consolidate the requirements of NSOs in Southern Africa in order to determine the optimal way of providing support, share best practices and experiences and enhance partnerships, networking and coordination in statistics in the region. The workshop will provide an opportunity for partners to strengthen collaboration in assisting national statistics organisations. The expected outcome of the workshop among others, is a consolidated NSOs support plan and strategy involving the different partners and appreciation of data needs of users.
Other participants at the workshop will include representatives of the African Development Bank, World Bank, and other UN agencies.
