UN and partners to rally around Africa’s integration and AU’s Agenda 2063

Addis Ababa 20 March, 2014  (ECA) - The 15th Session of the Regional Coordination Mechanism-Africa Africa will be held in Abuja, Nigeria from 28-30 March 2014 on the theme: UN support to Africa’s Integration in the Context of the African Union Agenda 2063.
The session will be held in the margins the Seventh Joint Annual Meetings of the African Union Conference of Ministers of Economy and Finance and the ECA Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, which will also be held in Abuja, from 25-30 March.

The RCM-Africa session has been aligned with the ministerial conference so as to allow for senior United Nations officials to engage directly with ministers and senior officers responsible for finance, planning and economic development on pertinent issues related to Africa’s development agenda in order to improve the coordination, collaboration and delivery through the mechanism.

The meeting is expected to emerge with concrete proposals on how the UN can effectively support the implementation of the Agenda and the 4 year strategic plan of the AU, especially with regards to the continental integration agenda.

Among other issues, the meeting will consider the second triennial review of the Ten Year capacity Building Programme for the AU and address the need to mobilize resources for its implementation.
