The ECA Conference of Ministers was praised for discussing ‘real’ issues affecting the continent. At the heart of the debates was the AfCFTA. Its success would depend on a concerted and common approach to advance trade facilitation. Ministers also recognised the central role of private sector to help push forward the AfCFTA project.

La Commission économique pour l’Afrique de l’ONU constate « l’insuffisance du développement reflète les faiblesses en matière de gouvernance des ressources naturelles ». Cette analyse repose sur la faible création de valeur ajoutée alors que le continent dispose d’importantes ressources naturelles. Le décès du Professeur Adebayo Adedeji, Secrétaire exécutif de la CEA (Commission économique des Nations Unies pour l’Afrique) de 1975 à 1991, ne laisse pas indifférente la fondation Pax Africana fondée par l’ancien ministre togolais Edem Kodjo. Dans un communiqué, les membres de la fondation ont rendu hommage à l’économiste décédé le 25 avril dernier.
