Despite the lowest level of motorisation in the world, Africa is most prone to traffic-related accidents with 26.6 deaths per 100,000 people, according to the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). Zimbabwe was ranked as the most unsafe, with highest road deaths at 34.7 per 100,000 people. The global rate of road traffic death is 18.2 per 100,000 people, says the report.
