Africa Regional WSIS Follow-up and Annual Review & Expert Group Meeting on Emerging Issues in ICT - 2016

The objective of the regional review meeting is to assess the progress that African countries are making in achieving the WSIS outcomes in general as well as the Emerging Issues in ICT in support of the implementation of the Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. As well as the ICT emerging issue.

More precisely, the review meeting will:

a)      Review progress in Africa on each Action lines of the WSIS Outcomes;

b)      Discuss challenges encountered in the region in mainstreaming ICT for development with specific reference to the implementation of the African Union's 2063 and the United Nation's Agenda 2030.

Special sessions will focus on a) the rise of the financial technology (fintech) industry in Africa and the increasing challenge of cyber-security; b) an All-of-Africa indicator framework for ICT measurement in the context of the SDGs and the AU’s Agenda 2063; c) Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) transition; and d) emerging Internet governance issues.
