The United Nations General Assembly approved the   Outcome Document of the High­ Level Meeting of the General Assembly on the Overall Review of the Implementation of the WSIS Outcomes  (A/RES/70/125 ), which mandates the UN Regional Commissions (UNRCs)  to continue their support to implementation of WSIS Action Lines (section 5 and paragraph 68; Continuation of the work of the United Nations Group on the Information Society (UNGIS). In this regard, UNECA will organise the Regional WSIS Review Meeting  2017 from 22 to 23 November 2017. The theme of this year’s regional review aligns with the HLPF 2018. It is “Transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies”. It is pertinent because the full implementation of the agenda 2063 requires substantive support and use of ICTs. . Discussions will focus on the contribution of ICT to achieve Goals 6, 7, 11, 12 and 15 and 17.  Of particular importance, will be an open debate on, and discovery of, realistic mechanisms capable of helping African countries to implement the 2030 Agenda SDG (in line with UNGA Resolution A/70/1), in addition to learning from successes from and presented at the WSIS Forum 2015, will facilitate the mapping and analysis of implementation of such WSIS Action Lines. The focus will be on ICTs potentials to enable and/or accelerate the implementation of such SDGs
