Title
African countries have a real opportunity, individually and collectively, to promote industrialization and economic transformation by adding value to natural resources and primary commodities. This is a key message of the 2013 Economic Report on Africa (ERA), which has the theme of “Making the most of Africa’s commodities: industrializing for growth, jobs and economic transformation”. ECA will present the key findings, messages and policy recommendations of ERA 2013 in a dissemination event in Dakar, Senegal, in order to spur the debate on commodity-based industrialization in Africa. This meeting will be hosted at the United Nations African Institute for Economic Development and Planning (IDEP). It will bring together members of the local government, private sector, academia and other stakeholders in order to discuss the findings of ERA 2013, address its relevance to the case of Senegal and debate on what steps and interventions are needed to address challenges and exploit opportunities to foster value-addition and industrialization on the continent. Those interested in attending should contact IDEP at idep@unidep.org. Download the report here: http://www.uneca.org/sites/default/files/publications/unera_report_eng_f...
