Training workshop on African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) Questionnaire and Methodologies

The workshop took place from 28 to 30 April 2015. Its main objective was to ensure a credible, competent, transparent and inclusive process by training key national stakeholders, such as members of theadvisory committee of the National Governance Commission, technical research institutes, the secretariat, and national focal points responsible for the promotion of good governance.

The workshop intended to improve understanding of the process of self-evaluation and the underlying methodology, with a view to speeding up the launch of the process and encouraging the active participation of stakeholders in all stages of the process in Senegal.

The workshop allowed Senegalese stakeholders to deepen their knowledge of the phases of APRM and ensured that they are better equipped technically to contribute actively to the launch of the APRM process and to complete the self-assessment exercise.

At the end of the workshop, the following results were achieved: participants had a good understanding of the self-assessment process and the roles and responsibilities of the various stakeholders; they became familiar with the structure of the questionnaire and the surveys for households and other target groups, and were able to administer them; they had a good understanding of the overall process of preparing the national report and programme of action; and they also had a draft roadmap describing the awareness-raising campaign, the communication strategy, the launch of the survey, the drafting of the self-assessment report and its validation, the design of a national action plan for APRM, the preparations to be made, visits from external experts and the preparation of the final report.
