Title

Ninth Annual meeting of the Central Africa Subregional Coordination Mechanism (SRCM) for the United Nations system-wide support to AU and its NEPAD Programme
Tuesday, November 20, 2018 to Wednesday, November 21, 2018
Libreville Gabon

This Ninth Annual meeting of the Central Africa Subregional Coordination Mechanism (SRCM-CA) for the United Nations system-wide support to AU and its NEPAD Program aims to give new impetus to the Common Indicative Program (CIP) of 17 UN and partner institutions working in synergy for the subregion’s sustainable development.

They will review a comprehensive proposal by ECA for the 3rd Common Indicative Program (CIP), in line with recommendations of the 9th session of the SRCM which was held in Yaounde, Cameroon from 21 to 22 November 2018. It is proposed that the program covers five years, running from 2018, with the following four broad thematic areas: i) Structural Transformation for Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Development; ii) Market access and inclusion in the value chain; iii) Improvement of human and social conditions; and iv) Promoting Governance, Peace and Security.

Several projects under 12 sub-themes will be advanced for examination, having been pre-selected on the following bases:
- The project must be community-based and cover at least two (2) countries;
- The project must take place over a maximum of five (5) years;
- The project must involve several agencies (thus dedicating the community of interest, favoring the synergy of resources and their optimal allocation);
- The project must have funding. This means that at least its preparation is initiated (project intentions will not be taken into account);
- The project must contribute to the implementation of AU Agenda 2063 and
- The project can be carried out by a single agency but with a sub-regional dimension.

The session will take a keen look at the difficulties encountered in executing CIP I (2010-2012) with a 52.1% execution rate and CIP II (2013-2016) with a 34% execution rate.
