The regional meeting has two main objectives. First to review and validate the manual on negotiating and drafting mineral development agreements (« the Manual »), in line with the AMV principles. The manual provides a plan of action for the implementation of the AMV and suggests an innovative approach to capacity development using reference decisional tools for policy-makers at all the stages of the negotiation process. 

Second, the meeting will identify key tenets for the operationalization of the inter-sectoral linkages for the industrialisation of mining economies in Africa. It is envisaged that the follow up initiatives that will ensue will contribute to better integrate the AMV in the continent’s industrialization agenda. This includes building inter-sectoral linkages for unleashing the potential of Africa’s mineral resources to become one of the main drivers for inclusive development on the continent.
