Friday, March 28, 2014 to Sunday, March 30, 2014
Abuja, Nigeria

The Fifteenth Session of the Regional Coordination Mechanism of United Nations agencies and organizations working in Africa in support of the African Union and its NEPAD Programme will be held in Abuja, Nigeria, from 28 to 30 March 2014. This year, the theme is United Nations support for Africa’s integration in the context of the African Union’s Agenda 2063.

The session is being held on the margins of the Seventh Joint Annual Meeting of the ECA Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development and African Union Conference of Ministers of Economy and Finance, which will take place in Abuja on Saturday and Sunday, 29 and 30 March 2014. The RCM-Africa session has been aligned with the ministerial conference to enable senior United Nations officials to engage directly with ministers and senior officials responsible for finance, planning and economic development on pertinent issues related to Agenda 2063,.

All partners are expected to come prepared to make concrete contributions and proposals on how they can effectively support the implementation of the Agenda and the African Union’s four-year strategic plan, in particular with regard to the continental integration agenda. The meeting will also consider the progress report on the activities of the Mechanism, the working group report and the second triennial review of the Ten-Year Capacity-Building Programme for the African Union, as well as the Regional Development Cooperation Framework, including resource mobilization for implementation of the activities of the Mechanism.

Please note that the Nigerian Authorities require that all participants of the RCM meeting be issued with a photo-identification badge for the Conference of Ministers.  The secretariat is therefore urging all attending to also register online for the Conference of Ministers of Finance, Planning and Development on the ECA website: www.uneca.org/cfm2014
