National Strategic Plan - Tanzania

The purpose of the Plan is to have a coordinated modality of implementation of collectively agreed strategies to ensure that weather and climate services play an effective role in the socioHeconomic development of Tanzania, the protection of life and property and the sustainable protection of the environment in the country.

The overall objective of the SP is to outline strategies for strengthening of the Institutional, Human, Infrastructure and Services to ensure the Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA) contributes effectively to the national development goals of Tanzania.

The Plan provides guidance of how the strategic objectives will be achieved, while anticipating increased demand for highHquality weather and climate services to enhance community resilience, contribute to economic growth and protect life and property from extreme weather and climate events.

It also provides a roadmap on how the longHterm goals, the programmatic goals and the specific strategies should be pursued in line with the national, Regional and International Plans including the; 5 Years National Development Plan 2016/17H2020/21, EAC Meteorological Development Plan, SADC longHterm plans, the MASA Strategic Plan 2011H2015, Integrated African Strategy on Meteorology (Weather & Climate Services) 2013H2017 and the WMO Strategic Plan (2016H2020).
