CLIMATE RESEARCH FOR DEVELOPMENTIN AFRICA (CR4D)

Advancing new frontiers of African climate research to enhance the production of climate information and services for development planning
CLIMATE RESEARCH FOR DEVELOPMENTIN AFRICA (CR4D)

The Climate Research for Development in Africa initiative was launched to strengthen links between climate science research and climate information needs in support of development planning in Africa.  It is an Africa led initiative supported by a partnership between the African Climate Policy Centre of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the African Ministerial Conference on Mete-orology, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Global Framework for Climate Services. The initiative is the outcome of the Africa Climate Conference 2013, held in Arusha, which brought together more than 300 participants, including top African climate ClimDev-Africa scientists, policymakers, climate service providers and practitioners, to discuss the state of African climate science and existing gaps in climate knowledge. In its final declaration, the Conference recommended the establishment of an African agenda on climate research for climate services and development in order to advance new frontiers of African climate re-search (see http://africaclimateconference.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/ACC2013-FI... ).
