African Statistical Yearbook 2006

The 2006 African Statistical Yearbook, the twenty fourth issue, presents data arranged on a country basis for 53 ECA member States, generally for the years 1997 to 2005 or for the last nine years for which data are available. It is published in one volume, with the following arrangement:
When data presented in this yearbook differ from the corresponding data for the same year, given in the earlier edition, it reflects corrections or revisions made as a result of the receipt of further information.
Section 1 contains summary tables which generally cover the years 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995 and the period 2001-2005 or the last five years period. In order to facilitate inter-country comparisons, the same unit is used for identical tables. However, individual countries’ coverage, concepts and definitions of data may vary. Readers are, therefore, advised to refer to the individual country footnotes for detailed explanations.
