MoU Signing Ceremony by ECA and Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa

Background

The overriding development policy challenge that Africa must address urgently is a balance between impressive economic growth rate and inclusive sustainable development.

Economic growth alone is not enough, unless accompanied by deliberate and proactive policies to reduce inequality and promote inclusion. There is a general consensus among African leaders and stakeholders that structural transformation of the continent’s economy is imperative for achieving inclusive and sustainable development.

Against this backdrop, ECA delegation led by Executive Secretary Mr. Carlos Lopes and the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) delegation led by the Director-General, Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, at a meeting in early September 2015 in Cairo, reaffirmed their intention to develop and structure their partnership in areas of common concern and jointly work towards realizing their shared goals of promoting Africa’s structural transformation agenda.

This event is an official signing ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding by ECA and BADEA.

The event is open to Media, ECA and BADEA personnel.  3rd April 2016, CR1
