Title

Technical training workshop on the African Peer Review Mechanism National Programme of Action
Tuesday, March 22, 2016 to Thursday, March 24, 2016
Dakar, Senegal

ECA, in collaboration with the Government of Senegal, held a technical training workshop on the designing and harmonization of the African Peer Review Mechanism National Plan of Action, in Dakar, Senegal, from 22 to 24 March 2016.

The overall objective of the workshop was to examine the national self-assessment report in order to develop a national programme of action and avoid duplication with existing national development strategies. The specific objectives were to discuss recommendations from the reports of the four thematic areas of the African Peer Review Mechanism and to design an action plan with regard to each thematic area. The workshop was attended by representatives of the national African Peer Review Mechanism secretariat, the African Peer Review Mechanism national governing council, the Ministry of Planning, the Ministry of Budget, the Ministry of Good Governance, technical research institutes, focal points from other regions and strategic partners, including ECA and the United Nations Development Programme. A total of 75 people took part in the workshop.

Participants were divided into groups by thematic area and acquired enough knowledge to develop the national programme of action and design a roadmap. ECA, as one of the strategic partners of the African Peer Review Mechanism, has provided technical and financial support to Senegal by taking part in the support mission and assisting with the self-assessment process. This has enabled the stakeholders to contribute technically to the launch of the African Peer Review Mechanism process and to complete the self-assessment exercise in a timely manner.

Senegal will be ready to receive the country review mission in April 2016.
