African gender and development index (AGDI) Phase 4 – Methodology workshop

The African Center for Gender/SDPD is organizing a methodology workshop on the fourth phase of the African Gender and Development Index (AGDI) from 7-8 June 2016 at the UNCC, Addis Ababa. The workshop is intended to build capacity of the national research teams to effectively carry out the national studies required for the index. The workshop will provide an
opportunity for ECA to interact with national gender and statistics experts and to reflect on the future process of rolling out the AGDI in the different countries. At the end of the methodology workshop, provision will be made for the country teams to develop their own research work plans, for the implementation of the index in their respective countries.

The Workshop will bring together gender and statistics experts from the 10 countries namely; Angola, Chad, Guinea-Bissau, Lesotho, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Sao Tome & Principe, South Sudan, and Sudan. Also participating in the fourth phase of the AGDI, gender focal persons from the ECA subregional offices, representatives of United Nations agencies based in Addis Ababa and of the African Development Bank, and staff members from the ECA divisions. Representatives from Zimbabwe that participated in the third phase of the AGDI will share their experience with participants.
