Title

Ad hoc Experts Group Meeting on Macroeconomic Frameworks for an Inclusive Green Economy in Africa - 2016
Tuesday, December 6, 2016 to Wednesday, December 7, 2016
Addis Ababa

The meeting is being organized by the Special Initiatives Division of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) to provide a forum for the experts to identify gaps, share experiences, provide inputs, and propose revisions that should form the basis for finalizing the study report on “Macroeconomic Frameworks for an Inclusive Green Economy in Africa.” The meeting will also provide a platform for the experts to foster an understanding and appreciation of past and current macroeconomic policies in Africa, and how they have contributed to economic, social and environmental outcomes.

The study was commissioned by the Special Initiatives Division to bring to focus the mutually reinforcing nature of macroeconomic and inclusive green economy policies and support the paradigm shift to a sustainable transformation. The aim is to investigate the macroeconomic conditions that are conducive for an inclusive green economy; and enhance understanding of the role of fiscal, monetary and financial policies in driving a sustainable transformation in Africa.
