The SDRA V is being produced under the theme “Achieving sustainable development in Africa through inclusive green growth”. The report is being produced through an inter-institutional collaborative process involving ECA, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Food and agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and United Nations Development Programme Regional Bureau for Africa (UNDP/RBA).
The report analyses the opportunities and challenges for Africa in promoting and achieving inclusive green growth in agriculture and land management, energy, industry, ecosystem goods and services, and trade. The report is also aimed at strengthening and further improving the indicator-based assessment framework for measuring progress towards sustainable development in the region. In particular, a headline indicator was identified for each theme intended to give an overall picture of progress and, depending on data availability, 15 pilot test cases were carried out in six countries.
