Friday, June 29, 2018
The Sheraton Pretoria, Pretoria, South Africa

The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) will launch the “Demographic Dividend with a Gender Dimension” Project in three target countries in Africa, starting with South Africa on June 29th, 2018. As part of Development Account Tranche 11 Projects, it will be implemented over the course of 2018-2022 in partnership with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific. (ESCAP) The DA Project responds to the demands by member States in both ECA and ESCAP regions to enrich the development policy and decision-making discourse in the coming years with a wide range of knowledge products and policy tools that can help member States harness the first demographic dividend and gender equality, thereby recording progress over multiple SDGs. During this inception meeting where ECA will official launch the Project in Pretoria, ECA will meet with technical experts across all relevant sectors and tailor the Project Strategy to the constraints and opportunities faced by implementing partners and clarify roles, responsibilities and expectations.  Consequently, the inception meeting will conclude with an action plan that will guide the activities of each implementing partner.
