Facing the Challenges of Land Monitoring in the Framework and Guidelines on Land Policy in Africa – Towards Agenda 2030 and SDGs 2063

The LPI in partnership with the African Center for andUN-HABITAT will hold a side event on Tuesday 29 November titled “Facing the Challenges of Land Monitoring in the Framework and Guidelines on Land Policy in Africa – Towards Agenda 2030 and SDGs 2063. The event will be held in the auspices of the 10th Session of the Committee of Directors Generals of National Statistics Office (CoDGs) and 5th session of the Statistical Commission for Africa (STATCOM-AFRICA). The objectives are to: raise awareness on data demand in Agenda 2030 and 2063 among national and regional statistics and data community, and partners, linking country, regional and global efforts; promote the application and use of harmonized and globally comparable methodology, tools and data protocols and innovative technologies for land data collection, analysis and reporting; strengthen and encourage synergies with key land partners’ including UN agencies, CSOs, INGOs, private sector and donors in support of national capacity strengthening and regional coordination mechanisms for data generation and reporting. Participants will include regional and global statisticians, Directors of the National Statistical Offices (NSOs), Executive Directors of Regional Statistical Training Centers; senior officials from ECA, LPI, UN-Habitat, FAO, IAEG-SDGs, UNDESA, and other UN agencies; Multilateral Organizations including IFAD, CSOs/INGOs, GLII partners and several other international institutions/agencies.
