Expected Outcomes

The CFSSD-8 is expected to lead to:

  1. Clear understanding of the implications of the main Rio+20 outcomes for Africa, and effective articulation of the region’s priorities regarding their implementation.
  2. Clear guidance and direction on the enhanced implementation of FSSD 2012/2013 work programme and on priorities for the 2014/2015 biennium.
  3. Clear understanding and appreciation of:
    • Africa’s food security situation, challenges and opportunities, as well as policy options for improving the food security situation on the continent;
    • Progress in the implementation of the project on Development and Promotion of Strategic Food and Agricultural Commodities Value Chains in Africa;
    • Progress in the implementation of the ClimDev Africa Programme, with a particular focus on the African Climate Policy Centre;
    • Progress in the implementation of the AU/AfDB/ECA Land Policy Initiative.

Expected Outputs

A number of outputs are expected to be delivered at the end of the meeting:

  1. The Africa-RIM Outcome Document for CSD-20
  2. The meeting report containing, inter alia:
    • Guidance on: The implementation of FSSDD’s 2012/2013 work programme and priority areas for the 2014/2015 work programme
    • Well-informed sets of practical and action-oriented recommendations on advancing the implementation of selected themes on food security and sustainable development
  3. Press releases
  4. Web publications
