The African Union Summit will be held under the theme 2016: African Year of Human Rights, with particular focus on the Rights of Women. The ECA Executive Secretary, Carlos Lopes will deliver a statement at the AU Executive Council opening. In addition to attending the Assembly meeting, the Executive Secretary will also hold bilateral meetings with various AU Heads of State and International Development Organizations.
