Ad-hoc Expert Group Meeting (AEGM): Review of the background paper for 4th edition of the African Governance Report (AGR IV)
Thursday, February 26, 2015
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

The ECA’s Macroeconomic Policy Division (MPD) is organizing an AEGM on Thursday February 26th 2015 to review the background paper for the fourth edition of the African Governance Report (AGR IV) publication. To this end, experts have been invited to debate on the theme of the AGR IV: “measuring corruption in Africa”.

The fourth edition of the AGR IV intends to propose an approach, which could allow African policymakers to better capture the dimensions and magnitude of corruption in their countries. The background paper presents several options of measuring corruption that do not focus primarily on perception.

The topics that will be discussed at the AEGM include: (a) corruption and its impact in Africa; (b) corruption measurements and limitations; and (c) non-perception based alternatives to measuring corruption.

The outcomes of this AEGM will contribute in advancing the ECA’s research work on understanding and combating corruption.
