Statistical Development Indicators (StatDI)
Background
The Statistical Development Indicators (StatDI) is a tool developed by the African Centre for Statistics of the United Nation Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) in October 2016. This new tool was endorsed by Heads of National Statistical Offices and experts at the 5th Statistical Commission for Africa in Côte d'Ivoire in November 2016.
StatDI will contribute to enhance the tracking and reporting mechanisms established for achieving the national development plans, including the sustainable development Goals SDGs and Agenda 2063.StatDI covers most of the fundamental dimensions in statistical development; and can be used by other agencies in other regions.
In April 2017 ECA presented StatDI at an event organized by the Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century (PARIS21) where StatDI has been recognized as a contribution to the global statistical knowledge to measure the progress attained in statistical development.
StatDI’s manual and questionnaire
ECA has developed a Manual and online data collection questionnaire for StatDI that will serve as data collection mechanism for the workability of StatDI.
The manual will assist and guide users on how to use StadDI.
The online questionnaire will transmit the developed manual in an automated fashion; and both the manual and the questionnaire will assist users in an effective and efficient approach in measuring the progress in their national/ sub-regional and African statistical development for the production and dissemination of official statistics in the context of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and Agenda 2063.
