Experts to review study on Global Governance Architecture for Combatting Illicit Financial Flows

The Macroeconomic Policy Division of ECA will host an Ad-hoc Expert Group Meeting (AEGM) on Thursday 28th September 2017 to review a draft study on “Global Governance Architecture for Combatting Illicit Financial Flows”. The meeting will be attended by experts from governments, research and academic institutions, think tanks from within and outside Africa, as well as staff from ECA and other UN entities.

Illicit Financial Flows Working Group convenes second meeting in Kenya

Nairobi, Kenya, June 02, 2017 (ECA) - The second meeting of the IFF Working Group (IWG) commenced in Nairobi Thursday with Souad Aden-Osman, Coordinator of the Secretariat of the High Level Panel (HLP) on Illicit Financial Flows(IFFs) from Africa and Senior Programme Officer for the Acting Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), expressing the importance of all institutions present to continually forge ahead with the agenda to stem IFFs from the continent.

ECA and partners scale-up efforts to tackle illicit financial flows from Africa

Nairobi, Kenya, November 21 2016 (ECA) - A two-day workshop aimed at Stakeholders working to confront the challenge of stemming illicit financial flows (IFFs) from Africa opened in Nairobi Monday, with the Economic Commission for Africa's Head of Special Initiatives in the Office of the Executive Secretary, Aida Opoku-Mensah calling for a coherent and coordinated approach on this agenda.

The First Subregional Workshop on Curbing Illicit Financial Flows (IFFs) from Africa.

The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) in cooperation with the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) and the African Union, will be holding the First Subregional Workshop on Curbing Illicit Financial Flows,  in Nairobi, Kenya from14 -15 September 2015. The workshop will tackle crucial topics such as the matter of IFFs in the context of global financing for development and how the OECD BEPS and other global processes impact upon Africa.
