Title
The Sub-Regional Coordination Mechanism of the UN system-wide support to the AU/NEPAD Programme in Central Africa (SRCM-CA) has been in place since 2009. Its modus operandi includes an annual progress review meeting on the support given by the various structures of the united Nations family to integration institutions in Central Africa.
Concretely, the Mechanism overviews the execution of the Common Indicative Programme (CIP) between the UN System and Central Africa’s sub-regional integration institutions within six domains: the Development of Transport, Energy, ICT, Water and Sanitation Infrastructure; ii) Governance, Peace and Security; iii) Industry, Trade and Market Access; iv) Agriculture, Food Security and Environment; v) Science and technology, human-resource development, employment, HIV/AIDS; and vi) the Development of institutional frameworks.
The main purpose of this sixth SRCM-CA session is to review progress on the 2013-2016 Common Indicative Programme (CIP). More specifically, participants at the meeting will: i) discuss the status of implementation of the planned activities , as well as the advances and potential stumbling blocks relating to the implementation of CIP II; ii ) update said Programme by identifying new support actions that partners intend to carry out and/or additional requests made by the RECs and their specialized institutions; iii ) explore possible partnerships for the implementation of actions to harmonize policies, programs and instruments of regional integration in Central Africa; iv) update the network of SRCM focal points and evaluate its mode of operation.
During the meeting, two substantive documents will reviewed, notably: i) the SRCM 2013-2016 state of implementation report; ii) the report on the mode of operation of the SRCM-CA , based on the recommendations of the previous SRCM meeting held in October 2013 in Douala, including that relating to the updating of the network of focal points.
